The Nevis Historical & Conservation Society in association with the St. Kitts and Nevis National Commission for UNESCO are pleased to announce the establishment of a new UNESCO funded project to collect, record and preserve materials related to Nevis’s “Oral History and Verbal Patrimony”.

Project LaunchedThe public launch of this project was Tuesday, December 11th, 2007 at 10am, on the grounds of Hamilton House, Charlestown. Senior officials of UNESCO’s National Commission, The Nevis Island Administration, The Department of Education, The NHCS and members of the public were also present The “Oral History Project” will be housed within its own dedicated area of The Museum of Nevis History and contain digital audio/video recording and editing equipment. In addition it will have the ability to produce its own short films and documentaries and create DVD’s both for archival and commercial purposes. The project is being supervised by the NHCS’s Oral History Committee, consisting of John Guilbert, Halstead Byron, Almon Dascent, Gail Dore, Esther Brooks, Rosemary Sullivan and Paul Diamond.
